Making the Difference Outreach (MDO) is a non-profit organization that is making a real difference in Central Florida. Through MDO, individuals can access resources to compare plans, learn about financial assistance, and enroll in the health insurance marketplace. The organization's mission is to make Central Florida a safe and welcoming place for people of all backgrounds and cultures. Kayla Harris, former ambassador and staff member of the United Way of Central Florida, was inspired by this mission and helped create Thrive Central Florida.
This initiative has five impact funds that are research-based and designed to drive monumental change. These funds focus on providing quality health care, physical activity, and nutritious food to all Central Floridians, regardless of income. To ensure everyone has access to the help they need, MDO works with several community partners across Central Florida to provide enrollment assistance. Additionally, the Central Florida Foundation has brought the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to Central Florida.
To honor a young leader from Central Florida who exemplifies Kayla's heart for making an impact in her community, MDO established the Difference-Maker Award. This award recognizes those who have a commitment to ongoing community service and a vision to improve lives and strengthen their community. Every week, MDO shares stories about people or groups making a difference in Central Florida. Through these stories, MDO hopes to inspire others to get involved in their local communities and make a positive impact.
MDO is committed to helping individuals access resources they need to make their lives better and create a brighter future for everyone in Central Florida.
